Food Assistance: Helping Families Have Enough to Eat

The goal of the Food Assistance Program (formerly known as the Food Stamp Program), is to help you put more food on your table when you don't have a lot of money to spend.

Food Stamps and Immigrants

The Food Stamp Program helps people with a low income buy food in stores, at farmers' markets, and in other places. Many, but not all, immigrants can get food stamps.

Intentional Program Violations Food Assistance

If the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services thinks that a person who receives food assistance has made a false statement, the person will receive a notice about the program violation and a form asking the person to agree to being disqualified and to pay the money back.
