CURRENT ACTIVE DISASTER DECLARATIONS

State Declared Disaster Declarations with Iowa Individual Assistance Program activated:  

From Governor Reynolds's June 11, 2018, state disaster proclamation press release, “[t]he Iowa Individual Assistance Program provides grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level or a maximum annual income of $41,560, for a family of three. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food and temporary housing expenses. Original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement for actual expenses related to storm recovery. The grant application and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Human Services website. Potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to submit a claim.”

 

Black Hawk County: disaster declaration issued on September 7, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 22, 2018.

Bremer County: disaster declaration issued on September 4, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 22, 2018.

Buchanan County: disaster declaration issued on September 12, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 29, 2018.

Clinton County: disaster declaration issued on September 7, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 22, 2018.

Franklin County: disaster declaration issued on September 7, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 22, 2018.

Iowa County: disaster declaration issued on September 4, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 22, 2018.

Iowa County: disaster declaration issued on September 11, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 29, 2018.

Kossuth County: disaster declaration issued on September 7, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 22, 2018.

Marshall County: disaster declaration issued on July 20, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance benefits is October 1, 2018.

Poweshiek County: disaster declaration issued on September 7, 2018. The deadline to apply for Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits is October 22, 2018.

 

·       Iowa Legal Aid provides help to low-income Iowans. 

 

·       To apply for help from Iowa Legal Aid:

o   call 800-532-1275

o   Iowans age 60 and over, call 800-992-8161

OR

o   apply online at iowalegalaid.org

·       If Iowa Legal Aid cannot help, you can look for an attorney on “Find A Lawyer” on the Iowa State Bar Association website – iowabar.org.   A private attorney there can talk with you for a fee of $25 for 30 minutes of legal advice.
