State Disaster Declarations with Individual Assistance
Grant Program(s) activated:
From Governor Reynolds's March 14, 2019, state disaster proclamation press release, “[t]he Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program provides grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level or a maximum annual income of [$42,660], for a family of three. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food and temporary housing expenses. Original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement for actual expenses related to storm recovery. The grant application and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Human Services website. Potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to submit a claim.”
Madison County. Disaster proclamation issued on July 2, 2019. Iowa Individual Assistance Benefits have been activated. The deadline to apply for benefits is August 16, 2019.

o Iowans age 60 and over, call 800-992-8161
o apply online at iowalegalaid.org
· If Iowa Legal Aid cannot help, you can look for an attorney on “Find A Lawyer” on the Iowa State Bar Association website – iowabar.org. A private attorney there can talk with you for a fee of $25 for 30 minutes of legal advice.
