Iowa Legal Aid provides high quality legal representation in civil cases to low-income Iowans through individual representation, impact litigation, and community legal education.  Most of our cases involve domestic abuse, landlord/tenant issues, consumer protection, public benefits or individual rights.  Through its Eviction Diversion Project, Iowa Legal Aid provides critical support to Iowans facing eviction in partnership with local social services agencies that can provide rental assistance and other vital services.

Eviction Diversion Project Intern

Iowa Legal Aid is recruiting a paid summer intern to help support our Eviction Diversion Project.

Intern duties vary.  They may include:


• Conducting initial client screening 

• Working with partner agencies on referrals for rental assistance and other services

•Conducting legal research

•Gathering data about the Project

•Providing administrative and logistical support at a local Help Desk

• Performing tasks related to the provision of legal services to clients under the supervision of a licensed attorney.

 Preference will be given to 2L students. Internships may be available in Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Iowa City, or Waterloo. Interns will be paid $20/hour.
